Message:   What great memories your site has brought back. I would have missed only a handful of home meetings between 1968 and 1975 when I emigrated to Melbourne, Australia. I used to stand on the first bend and if things were running a little behind schedule would wait for the legendary Johnny Hoskins to roar out "What hell are we waiting for" (usually accompanied by throwing his hat onto the track. What great Saturday nights, always worrying whether we would finish on time to please the City Fathers. What other great memories of travelling to tiny Crayford on a very foggy night when we clinched the title in 1971(??). Or down to Rayleigh Weir to hear another great old character Len Silver strut his stuff on the home straight wall! But I began bysaying what a sad sight and I was referring to the pictures of the staduium. It really was a shock to see what had happened to it. Great times gone for ever - but not the memories. Thanks to ALL the riders who gave me so many happy times.
