What's a few more months...
... to wait for the elusive glass needle. Going before planners AGAIN in the next few weeks with a view to start construction later this year. The 159 bed hotel and coffee shop/restaurant on the ground floor is now to be run by Doubletree (part of Hilton). |

excellent stuff! i don't mind how long this thing will take, the more they change it the better it becomes, and the more perfect for its environs. best thing is they've got a company behind the hotel side of it, as that always made it feel a bit vague. Hope this time is the one! |

oh god here we go again - I bet it'll look fantastic which will heighten the frustration even more!! still as mentioned the hotel part of it (related to hilton) might be the bit that actually makes it happen. I need to get in touch to say I'll happily book a room every so often - and I only live around the corner!! fair play to the people behind the scheme they keep hanging in there!! when was this development first ever heard of, I'm pretty sure it was something like 2002!! OK later this year - we'll see

They had a piece about it in the Echo. |

The article sounds relatively promising, some woman from the scheme telling the echo that work will start later this year, and claiming the credit crunch shoudn't effect the plan, because it's unique. It also mensions it's official name; Seren. |

Where have we heard all this before? ... I don't see this happening, I simply don't see Cardiff attracting enough visitors to justify a 12th (or thereabouts) hotel in the city centre alone!!! |

That said, please prove me wrong! |

Isn't it an extended stay hotel though, like mini aparments? That's a first for the city so could do quite well. The 16 story Jurys hotel planned as part of the new Echo development on the other hand... |

An apart-hotel should do well if priced reasonably. Currently prices for short-term lets (e.g. 1 month) are about 400 - 500 a week for an apartment in Century Wharf or Altolusso. If they undercut this, given its location it should do well. |
