Re: teams

Is this true?

If so, then that is 5 from 6 innings! Not bad for a pro. Is the club going to sack the man? Members deserve to know?

Come on this must be someone having a laugh?

Re: teams

why didn't the club get threaders back this season? he would have got runs and wickets and gave us a hope of going back up to the top flight. instead this other fella is getting nothing.

even that verhagen guy could score runs when needed.

lets wait for the others to defend the great one. looking good is great but scooring on the field is whot counts. i am sure this guy will get a big one soon enough

Re: teams

ok mario hasnt had a score on saturday YET, but he gives so much more to the club than just turning up to play. He coaches the seniors and juniors, looks afta the ground and has provided some of the best wickets weve had at marchwiel in many years! so instead of giving him a hard time lets all get behind the man and support him through this bad run of his

Re: Re: teams

ok he does coach the players of all ages, but thay cant have faith in him getting 0 every week, there no point in him doing a good wicket each week if hes in the shed after 5 overs!!!!!!!

Re: teams

Let us not also forget that there are 10 other good players in the first team. the team isnt just built around the pro like it has been for the past few years.

Re: Re: teams

Haha. The hypocrisy of the club committee is laughable. Last year numerous people on the committee actually wanted the club to get relegated stating that it would be better in Division 1. To enter onto a field of play actually wanting to lose is bad enough but then to employ a pro after saying the club should move away from that culture is just hypocratic. Those on the committee who were happy to see the club relegated know who u are.

Re: teams

i agree with you comment and i think past pros have performed a lot better. m&wcc dont be disrespectful.

members deserve better. finances are tight and last season club said they were going away from the pro line. threadgold wasnt asked back. that park guy from last year is living in the area and he wasnt either. it seemed that the club was going away from the paid player angle. then the club goes out and gets a boy who has batted five times for 0. whatever you might say, that is totally unacceptable. he will score runs eventually but how long will this rot go on for?
ok

Re: teams

Can I firstly say that anyone everyone is entitled to their opinion and that healthy debate is both necessary and beneficial to any organisation. However this can only be the case if the individuals concerned are honest enough not to hide behind false names etc. If you are going to make personal attcks on people, at least have the decency to reveal who you are.

As for members being entitled to be advised of what is going on at the club etc well the answer is easy, anyone is welcome to contact myself or any other committee member of the Club, and ask what the current state of play on any subject is. However, as those who place postings on the website do not reveal their real identity, then we are unable to quantify whether the person is a member of the Club or not. and in any event, as this forum is open to none members then I do not personally feel it appropriate to make comment on individuals or Club matters on here that are not relevant to none members.

I would also state that were the contributors to this site members of the club, who really had the benefit of the club at heart, then they would not need to be looking to this site for answers.

I look forward to hearing from those members who have any questions.

Re: Re: teams

may i just say that i was happy with the answers i got when i offered my services this season, the person on the comitee justified the action to me on a personal and finacial basis, it wasnt possible for me to return at this stage. as for mario i find him a very good player and coach for the club, lets all get behind him i know in my heart he will make alot of runs this season.i very much enjoyed player for this great club the 2 season i was there and im sur thay will be back in top flight soon.as for you f..kwits who hide behind all these names stand up and be counted put your name to you views

Re: teams

I have stayed clear of this particular discussion, suffice to say that I felt sure that Mario would come good at some stage. He is getting plenty of runs midweek and it is only a matter of time before he hits a golden streak. I do think he would be better off being paired with a senior player to help talk him through the early stages of an innings. He seems to be playing as if the whole world is resting on his shoulders.

As Chris Hemmings correctly states, this is indeed a public forum and is open to anybody with an interest in any of the subject matters. It is heavily moderated, for obvious reasons, and no personal insults, inappropriate language or racist comment will be permitted. As for people who get on their 'high horse' can expect others to deliver arguments of an equally inflexible nature - again within the previous tolerances.

As for 'hiding' behind aliases, soubriquets or other smokescreens, that cuts no ice with me as I am also Moderator and am able to determine who the various individuals are. Only in the extreme cases listed above would that actually happen. As for this forum, it is good to know that honest debate can occur with some good points made on all sides. Sure, Club enquiries can be made to your Committee by bone fide members, but it does not prevent anyone voiceing their opinions on open forum. It might actually help to raise specific item with the 'powers-that-be' instead of being ignored by a not-so sympathetic Committee who fear any sort of criticism.

As for decision making, remember that we play in an Amateur League. Until serious sponsor's money allows clubs to benefit financially by way of winning the various groupings, then we are always going to be second best to the 'A' tier leagues across the country. All efforts are very much in the amateur bracket, and given by people who have other things to do. It is through this hard work, freely given, that Clubs such as ours are able to survive. It happened in my day, maybe to a slightly different extent, but the emphasis was always on the Club to make the final decisions, including financial clout.

Maybe I would have made different decisions to your current Committee, but that is entirely for me to know. You select your Committee and you can deselect them at either AGM or EGM. Rest assured that unless others can prove better ideas, then run with what you have. Criticise for sure, and the current performances certainly deserve some raised eyebrows, but unless you can come up with a better alternative, then toe the line. That is what this forum is about. For those non members, an ideal place to initiate fresh comment amongst interested parties. For the Committe, it is most certainly in your interest to continue to read and digest these comment, and perhaps act upon them.

As for me, The Correspondent, a soubriquet that really should be well known to all of you, particularly as I write in other areas of this website, I will continue to support and cajole from afar. I, too, wait with great expectation for the improved results to start rolling in. Whether your overseas is a good choice will entirely depend on where the Club finishes at the end of the season. Simple as that.

Hoping for success this weekend,
Correspondent
