Match Report - Brymbo 3rd XI v Marchwiel & Wrexham 1st XI
Brymbo 3rd XI (made up mainly of youngsters & a couple of 'old hands') took on the might of a Marchwiel & Wrexham 1st XI (sporting first teamers Salmon Mohammed, David Ward, George Forgrave)in a Sunday fixture looked forward to by many due to the intense rivalry between both clubs in recent years. The toss was won by Darren Bettis, who has played 4 times for Marchwiel & Wrexham 1st XI this year, and he chose to bowl. A spirited display by Brymbo 3rd XI on a good batting wicket saw them reach a total of 182 for 5 after 45 overs. Bettis bowled 12 overs, taking 1 for 38. David Ward, Salmon Mohammed and George Forgrave, all established players of the 1st XI, bowled 28 overs between them. In reply, Salmon Mohammed, who has played on 8 occasions for Marchwiel's 1st XI this year, scored an unbeaten 69. David Ward also carried his bat for 94 not out. This was a game played in the true spirit of cricket (and in the spirit of League Rules). Unfortunately, Brymbo's young 3rd XI were overpowered by their counterparts from the Marchwiel & Wrexham 1st XI. This is cricket as it should be played. |

Reporter you sad act!! get a life mate u lost get over it. didnt i hear that some players also played for your teams on saturday and sunday? Hypocrite!!!! Salmon was a late call up due to drop outs, George has been unable to play the last few weeks because of other commitments, Dave played as a batsmen until u opened with your "3rd team batsmen" who conveniently just hapened to play and bat in the top order the previous day and Darren has filled in when needed. Lastly on a count of players from the saturday to sunday games, Marchwiel fielded 2 players both days D Ward and S Mohammed. while Brymbo fielded 4 B Patterson, D Wilkinson, R Ward and P Wilkinson!!!! |

Player - thanks for your quick reply. I think that this is a matter the League Committee may ultimately have to decide on. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if Mohammed, Ward and Forgrave play for your 1st XI next week. I shall make it my business to check. Yours Truly Reporter x |

Player, thanks for your comments. Ultimately, however, it is a matter for officials of the North Wales Cricket League. It is pertinent to note that a number of officials at the NWCL are affiliated to Brymbo CC. Reporter x |

With all respect, any idiot can come on this site and claim to be affiliated with any club- I take no notice of 'Reporters' claims and would not take for granted that he has anything to do with Brymbo CC. Let us be contented with 2 good performances- and focus our attention on the forthcoming promotion battles. |

'mainly youngsters'- i counted 5 U18s in the Brymbo line-up(that is under half the team bozzo), exactly the same number as in the M&W line-up. I noted Ben Patterson has been opening the batting on a regular basis for the 2s on a saturday(obviously he doesnt count in this hypocrisy). Also noted that Danny Williams(opening bowler for 2s on saturday) took a few wickets for the 3rds the previous sunday v Anglesey Aluminium. Sure I could have dug up more names- unfortunately the Brymbo score-cards are not kept up to date. |
