Message:   An earlier message conveyed the nightmare I encountered trying to obtain a letter that an ER physician at TVRH had written on my behalf so that I could obtain insurance benefits to lessen the costs of treatment for a recently diagnosed brain tumor. I indicated that the problem was the result of an uncaring, insensetive, and poorly trained clarical employee who would not transmit the letter to neither my insurance carrier nor to me.

In fairness to TVRH I must report that after one week and an unnecessary meeting with the Director of Emergency Services I obtained the needed letter. After hearing of my plight, the Director left her office and returned about twenty minutes later with my letter in hand. She personally tracked it down, handed it to me, and provided a sincere apology. Although the clarical employee had been insensitive, uncaring and poorly trained, this surely was NOT the case with this high-level administrator. I am truly greatful to her! The fact remains however, that this situation would never have occured if the initial staff member had been better trained and better supervised. No patient should ever be subjected to the kind of stress and anxiety I experienced in a time of great distress.
