Message:   hi again ,I am off to see the consultant on 1st May where i am told a biopsy will be done just to confirm the diagnosis. when i presented myself to the doctor after many months of irritation & itching i was fed up tired of treating myself for thrush i was not only red raw but there were many "splits" in my vulva skin and i was bleeding. and ulcerated .My doctor made a diagnosis and began treating me originally with 1% hydro-cortisone cream and diprobase cream. also i needed antibiotics to help begin to settle everything down and referred me to the dermatitis /vulva clinic. I began to feel better after about a week ,but within 8 weeks even using the creams and steroids i became sore again, I returned to my doctor before it became as bad as when i first presented myself. she immediately examined me and changed the cream to dermovate and of course still using diprobase cream .I am now not too bad but waiting to see consultant with a list of questions. I found that its not only the soreness that's awful but i seem to get a feeling of hopelessness and seem to always feel run down and tired with little motivation .I am not sure if that's a part of the condition or just me that on a bit of a downer. At first i was told not to go swimming and as i go 3 times a week i was upset but now the condition is more under control i splash on the diprobase cream and go right ahead. I also stopped using ordinary shower gel and shampoo as it runs into that area making it worse. I bought a non allergenic vaginal wash and use it VERY sparingly and feel tons fresher than when i use diprobase to wash with. So it all seems to be a learning curve in what is best for the individual all my years I have never even heard of this condition but am pleasantly surprised to find lots of others sharing their experiences and finally I must add a word about my doctor ,she has been just fantastic and now always sees me at short notice owing to the speed at which i go from OK to sore bleeding .sorry if i have waffled on a bit but maybe it help someone else out there
