Housing and meal plans???

Hello,
i´ve got some questions about housing and meal costs. I am an german student who applied for an exchange in 2007 - 2008. My application form isn´t already been answered yet, but probably I get accepted. The university I am enrolled at and the UO have a special arrangement, so that I haven´t to pay such high fees and tuition.
Today I looked for housing and its prices.. and thought: WOW, 6670$ for housing (Fall and spring semester)... it´s round about 740 $ a month. Then I looked for other possibilities.. and found this website. Because of this I have two questions...
- Can I apply for one of the offered houses on this website which cost 900$ / Semester ?
- Do I have to use the meal-plan? Or can I buy it on my own (stores,...) ?

Hope you can answer me, otherwise I have to cancel my semester in the USA, cause it´s two expensive... .

With greeting, Robert

Re: Housing and meal plans???

Dear Robert-Marcus,

Thanks for your questions. The housing figures you are questioning are not accurate. Housing and the meal plan for the academic year is $5,800. International students receive a grant in the amount of 75% tuition for the year. This would make tuition approximately $3,615 for the year. In addition there are other fees including books and living expenses that students must pay. Due to INS regulations, international students must show financial support for the costs.

Please visit the following site concerning the costs for OCU -

If you have additional questions, please feel free to email our international office at international@oak.edu

Thank you,

Brian Baker
