My Twin Pregnancy - "Small" Babies
Hi.. I'm bout 30wks first-time pregnant and wif twinz. But apparently my scans last 2 weeks showed my babies were "smallish", 1 at 0.89kg and the other at 1.12kg. I was admitted for 3 days, with daily CTG and finally allowed to go home at my constant appealing as the hospital atmosphere was stressing me out. I was very worried and was crying every night and the docs eventually allowed me to go home but with a deal, I have to come back for frequent heartbeat monitoring, bloodflow and fetal growth scanning. Is there anything that I could do to improve the condition of my babies? Or anything i could avoid doing on my side? I'm really stressed out feeling helpless and kept thinking of the worst. Right now, all i could do is pray for my babies, making sure they're both kicking all the time. I would certainly appreciate if anyone who went through the same could gladly share their experiences/advises with me... |

Hi Ayu, I can understand how anxious & worried you are considering this is your first pregnancy & with twins :) My boys who were born 29wks premature, weighed at arnd 1.3kg t birth. So your babies arent doing so bad I wld say. Are your twins identical, considering one twin weighs lesser than the other?? What you can do is having lots of bedrest. Pls dont undermine the importance of this. With plenty of bedrest, you may be able carry you babies as close to term as possible. This means your babies hv abt 6-7 more weeks to grow. You can also try 'talking' to them by rubbing your tummy. Make sure you are also having a balanced diet & dont get stressed so much. If its any consolation, go to page 3 of this forum. There was a separate discussion on a similar topic & you'd be relieved to know how many other mothers went through the same thing & their babies turned out well. Hv a lot of rest & enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Cheers, Sasha |

Hi Mesh, Please look under "Pregnant with Twins but one is too small..." We have had this Forum Board restructured over the last months. So sorry for the confusion! :) |

Hi, I also have the same concern about the sizes of the babies, esp one of them was detected to be smaller. Though my gyne said they are fine, but I do hope the twins will be able to full term with good sizes. I've recently read an article that taking DHA supplements will help to prevent premature deliveries and maintain healthy babies weights. I'm not sure how much will it help, but anyway I'm have been taking it since 20 weeks. Perhaps you might want to check with your doc if its help for your case. Janice |
