Re: Triplets??

Hi Mesh,

We do have a few mummies in the club. Although I doubt they come in this forum much (for a good reason too as they are busy!)

Are you a member yet? If so, you can meet up with these mums at our gatherings as well as our age-appropriate playgroups.

Cheers!
Mesh

Re: Triplets??

Hi Mesh,

How far along in the pregnancy are you? I was already feeling heavy & having sleepless nights plus backaches at 27wks wt my twins so I can imagine that you are feeling much worst considering you are carrying triplets.

Please have plenty of rest & although walking is good exercise, too much may make you feel worse & might also trigger labour. Bedrest is very important!

Wt regards to the gathering, you will be informed via email or through our monthly newsletter when you become a member.

To become a member, you may either join on the spot at the gathering or email us at twins@twinsplussing.com

Hope to see you & your little ones at the future gatherings soon!

Re: Triplets??

Thanks CLim! i have lots of questions!

like sleeping arrangement..... mtb's diet......

i was planning to put all 3 babies in the same playpen till 3 months, b4 i migrate them to a mattress on the floor..... is this feasible? what was your arrangement when the babies came home..... my pther problem is the room i have i rather small.... i have a confinement lady and maid int he same room as the babies as well... can't possible put 3 cots in there,....

Now something more immediate...... my hubby is nagging me to eat more everyday, saying it help prevent preterms or at least so that our baies will be born more than 2kg.... does diet really help in preventing pre term and what kind off diet is considered good enough..... my hubby insist i should eat something every 1-2 hours, and each time i should be eating something filling, not just snacks..... he read a book saying i should eat 4000kcal every day... is this achievable?

Re: Triplets??

hi mesh,

i didn't have triplets but i had twins. just wanted to tell you to be careful about eating too much...whether you should eat more or less should be based on your gynae's advice. for my case, my gynae monitored the size and weight of my babies every other week, and told me to cut down on eating as the babies are on the big side and she's concerned about about premature labour. So I was put on a strict diet, and no cakes and desserts allowed even though I didn't have gestational diabetes. Basically, my gynae says that the babies need to be of a good size, but if they are too big, it gets very uncomfortable during the later weeks plus it increases the chance of pre-term labor as your womb can only take up to a certain size. so, do consult your gynae on eating, and it also depends on how far along you are.

Re: Triplets??

Hi Mesh,

Well, here's to answering your questions... Diet: yep, you need to beware of gestational diabetes. I didn't get it during my pregnancy but it was one thing I was cautioned about. You might not get it now as you are still early in your pregnancy but you increase your risk if you are not careful with your diet. Eat nutritious food and cut down on the sugar. Yes, you do need to put on weight and you need to monitor if your babies are putting on the correct weight at each stage of your pregnancy. I'm sure your doctor will caution you if he thinks you're putting on too much. I was very blessed to have my mum cook for me daily when I was pregnant and a doting husband who would collect the food from mum's to put on the table. Have balanced meals and if you need to snack, snack healthy.

How many weeks are you now? One grave concern by the doctors is preterm labour...you do need to have your doctor monitor you closely. Which hospital will you be delivering by the way? Do they have a level 3 NICU? You definitely need to be prepared...I had a fantastic maternal fetal specialist who made sure my babies and I were all right every step of the way. That, a great PD and a lot of prayers, support from family, got me to carry my babies till 35 weeks 2 days. Every day of my pregnancy was a miracle. Take it one day at a time, one tiny step at a time... My hubby and I didn't dare to make any plans for our babies till 28weeks when my doctor gave us the green light..My two boys were born over 2.3 kgs and went home with me when I was discharged. My little girl was born at 1.95kg and had to be monitored for her sucking. She went home after the 10th day.

The sleeping part: my babies slept in their own cots from day 1. The reason being they would wake one another up. We felt that them being in the same room was enough to bond. Especially when you get to the night feeds and naps... (which I will share with you in perhaps a later post if you are interested). It was also easier in terms of bedtime routines and so on. However, we shifted our girl to be in the same room as her big sister when she was about 15 months so that there's the girls' room and the boys'. That was where they all had their own single beds to sleep in.

I'm not sure if the other mothers would agree with me on this but one way to stay sane in looking after the babies is ROUTINE. And you need to try to start from day 1. "Start as you mean to go on". And because of this, my 4 children are in bed by 8.00pm every night (including most weekends) and they wake by 7am. That gave hubby and I some space for each other and time to be together.

One thing you need to remember with having triplets is to always stay positive no matter how difficult things get. When Mummy's okay, babies are okay.

And when you reach each milestone, you'll find that it's worth it.

Sorry if this post is long... if you do have any questions, just ask away... or if you feel a need to talk to someone, leave your email and I could get your number from there. I'm not a member yet, just lurking around when I saw your first post for help.

I can understand your concerns and the emotions you go through. Hey, hang in there k?

Take care!

Triplets??

Hi Clim.I admire you. You can carry to 35 weeks. That is almost full term for triplets! Must be very hard for you then. I have 3 boys but I only manage to carry to 28 weeks!I had contractions at 20 weeks! They made me stay in the hospital till my delivery!

Can you share with me your ROUTINE when they were 9 mths old? My boys are 9 mths from birth, corrected age is 6 mths. They sleep by 7 - 7.30pm and wake up by 6-6.30am. They have the last feed at 11pm, we dont wake them up, jus fed when they are sleeping. You do that too? I have problem with their naps. I cant put all three in the same room coz they make a lot of noise and disturb the one that is trying to go to bed. I have to put them in separate room during the nap period. I tried to put them on a rountin for their feeds and naps but so far not successful. They all naps at different time! Can you share with me your success story and the rountin they have for the day?

Hi Mesh,
Hang in there. You need plenty of rest and good food. Take care!

Re: Triplets??

Hi Mesh,

I don`t come on here often - I wonder if you have had your triplets already? My triplets are 10 months now and I have a 3 and 4 year old too.
My triplets all slept together until around 8 weeks which is the time they started to disturb each other. I think they liked to be close initally, they would snuggle up together. They have been in seperate cots in my room since then. We are now preparing to evict them :)
I initially had my triplets on a routine, it`s the only way to cope in the early days. As they got bigger I relaxed it according to their needs. One particularly needed feeding more regularly and I didn`t want to ignore their need for differing schedules. So if you find that is the case for your babies you won`t be the only one and it doesn`t last forever. Don`t forget they are individuals. They are now back on roughly the same routine, 2 naps a day, they all eat their meals together, drink milk together etc.
Please feel free to e-mail me too if there is anything I can help you with.
PS mine were born at 34 weeks 4 days, at 1.85, 2.085 and 2.165, the bigger two were discharged with me at 5 days, the smallest had to stay another 5 days (a total of 10 days) to grow a bit bigger.
