Sleep problems-desperate and exhausted.

Hi, my twins are now 25 months old. Twin2 has always been a good sleeper until Jan this yr. It's a battle of wills each time we put him to bed (nap and night time). He has been sleeping in his own room since he was 7 months and he used to be able to fall asleep by himself. Lately, he screams each time we leave him alone in his cot. Now, either my hubby or myself have to sit beside him until he falls asleep. He wakes up 3 to 4 times each night and will not go back to sleep without one of us sitting next to him. Each time he cries, his bro will wake up too. Twin1 has always been a difficult sleeper. Used to wake up 4 to 5 times a night even with someone sharing his room but got better recently. Now, he's also not getting any sleep b'cos of his bro. We have established a routine since they were 5 months old. We have tried the cry it out method and the Sleep Lady shuffle but nothing seems to work. All of us are getting less than 4 hours sleep every night. I've taken Twin2 to see a sleep disorder specialist but all I've been told is to be consistent and leave him to cry it out and he'll improve. He can cry and scream for an hour if we don't intervene. I just don't have the heart to keep doing this to him.

Does anyone have similar sleep issues? Would appreciate your advice.

Yes, I've the same prob as yours, juz that I've yet to approach a sleep disorder specialist.
Maybe we can talk more about it via msn?
