Subject:   TRAVELING WITH PETS FROM MIAMI USA WITH AEROPOSTAL AIRLINES
Name:   A traveler

Message:   I would recommend NEVER flying with Aeropostal from Miami to Caracas if you are bringing a pet with you as they do not accept accompanied baggage which means that the pet will go by CARGO on same aircraft but goes direct to Venezuelan CUSTOMS where your nightmare never ends!

In Miami Aeropostal led me to believe that a few hours between arrival and my local connecting flight to Margarita would be ample time to simply and easily retrieve my dog at customs and get on my flight. This was an outright LIE as my life became absolute hell between all my luggage and appointing a local customs broker to do all the paper work for me at an astronomical financial physical and mental cost to me.

I had to spend the night at a hotel close to the airport (Hotel Catimar) who kindly permitted me to have my dog for the night and were very sympathetic to my cause. The extra night and cost of getting the paper work done through the customs broker was well over US$ 600 and meanwhile my poor dog was in a very hot warehouse where he was not fed or given water for some 30 hours!

I don“t know what I would have done if I had not been accompanied by a friend from Margarita who flew over to receive me knowing of my language problem and traveling with my pet. Luckily through him we were able to get things done otherwise my dog would have died and things would never have been done at all!

Aeropostal employees in Caracas airport know perfectly well that pets are not accepted as accompanied baggage and that this situation occurs each time people arrive with pets but nobody seems to notify Miami to warn their customers about this. If I had known this in advance I would have left my dog at home in the United States.

The customs agents I dealt with and who helped me out are Vene-embarques at +582123312233 Mr. Federico Giraud email federicogiraud@vene-emarques.com website www.vene-embarques.com
