Total Genius IMHO!!! It's like they were never away! But there's a few errors - birds don't fly at the speed of sound. Planets can't move at the speed of light - that's impossible!!! What's that about!

Yeah that's right, you do have to ask what he means. You also have to interpret the lyrics in your own way; that's where you'll find the real meaning. It doesn't really matter what HE means, it's matters more what YOU mean. If you're getting hung up about logical things like how can birds fly at the speed of sound and so on, you're just not getting it. Some people just don't understand the truth when they're presented with it, because they're too preoccupied with notions of what's possible and impossible. Suspend your disbelief. |

I've had some time to think about it, and I've realised that 'Speed of Sound' is a Revelation, like in the Old Testament. The song starts with a person alone, looking for more - "How long before I get in Before it starts before I begin How long do i have to climb Up on the side of this mountain of mine How long am I gonna stand With my head stuck under the sand I start before I can stop or Before I see things the right way up" Then the vision comes, a rush of light and sound - "All that noise and all that sound All those places I have found All those signs I knew what they meant Somethings you can't invent" He suddenly understands, yet cannot communicate it clearly to us. Unless we've had the experience ourselves, we cannot hope to understand what is beyond words - "If you could see it then you'd understand Oh when you see it then you'll understand" Some aspects of the vision remain unfathomable, despite the feeling of truth he gets from it - "A sign that I couldn't read Some things you have to believe When others are puzzles, puzzlin me" The image of the bird is the Holy Spirit, which is traditionally portrayed as a dove in religious art (picture the dove from the story of Noah's Ark). The bird is the Holy Spirit, a message from the underground (his Subconscious mind)who tell him how his fame began - because he is a prophet! "Birds came flyin from the underground To show you how it all began" I hope this illuminates you all, and if you don't agree - "when you see it then you'll understand"!!

hahaha, ur like all... wrong but when u see it, u will understand... Chris is not trying to be Christ, he is just one of the elite, like me, haha... BTW, birds are really "words"..which is sound, thats why they travel at the speed of sound. when they fly from the underground he means to show that x = x as well as x = y (or like 1=2), even tho they are two different things... like the sky and the underground, he is saying that the sky is the same thing as underground.. thats why the album is called x&y, cuz he is trying to unexplain the current "twisted logic" and reasoning. A rush of light and sound is a rush of knowledge and messages. they are all throughout this album... |

Totally!!!! X&Y = ying & yan = good & evil... ... on Earth as it is in Heaven?(!) Underground/Overground - Could be a reference to The Wombles. |
