starter motor problems

I need to check my starter motor off car before having it reconditioned.How do I connect Jump Leads.

Good morning. Clamp the motor in a workmate or similar as the turning torque will make it move. Connect the negative lead to a clean point on the body and either connect the positive to the positive terminal and operate the switch or momentarily touch the positive on the live input on the motor (there will be sparks!)
