Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

Just saw these two renders on Frank Knights Estate Agent Website

They look slightly different to any I'd seen before. They are both "LAUNCHING SPRING 2008 - CALL TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST"

The glass needle is now called "Seren" and the central hotel one is "Central House".

Also this one on the same website -

http://www.knightfrank.co.uk/webuk/flash/search.aspx

This is in Bute St, just before the Butetown Estate begins (opposite the abandoned railway station). Doesn't look that great to me but is an improvement to the derelict garage there at present.

The central hotel image is really quite different from the one in the most recent planning doc, and is smaller as well. I prefer the one below, both the height and the doorway:

Sorry, my mistake, that pic didnt come from the planning doc. It was the architects website.

The Bute Street build looks ok but why the green? It'll stick out a mile!

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

How long have these been on their website ?

Let's hope that this is just an old render of the Central Hotel...I really like the version that is on the architect's website. I hope it isn't going to lose height from 15 to 10 storeys !!

As for the Bute Street version, or Dixie as the development is called it was in the Western Mail today - but without the photo. It's certainly an improvement on what is there now...regardless of the colour.

Glass Needle wise, if the name has changed I'm glad as there' nothing needle like about it but I'll believe this is happening when they start construction.

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

Does this mean.. just maybe, perhaps, and with a bit of luck that we may at last see some construction on that hoarded area of wood st? Or is 'express an interest' still to see how much interest there is in a 'maybe'?

and that central hotel area whatever ends up there goes up and down like a yo yo no wonder construction is so slow, they don't actually know what they are constructing!!!

anyway roll on spring 2008 wait there surely that just a little bit later than.. now!! I'll have to 'do a lap' tomorrow to see if the glass needle site is occupied by anything more than the resident tumbleweed!! perhaps it's all in a name and now it's called SEREN it will be reaching for the stars in no time

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

Well done good find.

I read the details from the Knight Frank website and it states stunning veiws from the 15 th foor penthouse, so I guess it will remain 15 stories tall

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

You know... I think i prefer the new picture brought to our attention.(the less heigh one).

Its much more sympathetic and stylish, the higher one sticks out like a sore thumb with all that colour and pixelated panels it will age very quickly...

Yet another design for central hotel?! I wish they'd make up their minds and just build it!

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

I think the shorter Central Hotel design is the older one as it features on some pretty old renders of the Sleeperz Hotel. So I'd put my money on the taller one, but given the pace this is moving forward would probably be mad to put any money on either

THE SHORTER CENTRAL HOTEL ENRANCE HAS A BIT OF A GAUDI FEEL ABOUT IT. BUT IT DOESN'T GET STRONGER AS ONE LOOKS UP

Re: Renders from frankKnight.co.uk

The one thing that is amusing about the Glass Needle (or should I now call it Seren ?) is that we are all focusing on the 31 storey building for obvious reasons, but isn't the scheme also to include a second building of some 20 storeys...which is taller than most apartment buildings we now have in the city.

Weeeeell.... the arch at ground floor does, I'll grant you. A little Casa Mila. You know, I could quite happily take that shorter version, although I'm pretty confident that the taller one is the current 'least unlikely' scenario.
