In a secret memo from Locog they asked G4S could the Millennium Stadium Plaza be secured by Temporary Polish Security Staff hired for the duration of the Olympic Football events.
G4S then placed adverts for 40 Poles.
The anti terrorist poles outside the Millennium Stadium are much higher than I had expected. They have taken down the previous white poles (which had the coloured LED light features runnign up their length) and replaced them with these eight foot high stainless steel reinforced rods!
I've never heard anyone comment upon those huge concrete squares and reinforced bollards which have appeared at every entrance to Queen St over the past 5 years or so. I think a lot of people haven't really clicked as to why they were urgently installed!
