It is with sadness that I can confirm that a member of the Technical Department, Darren Ford Staff Chief Engineer Officer suffered cardiac arrest and although the ships medical team did everything they could along with the ship going up to full speed to try and get him to specialist care, he unfortunately suffered several further cardiac arrests, the 11 th proving fatal.

Re: Recent Death aboard MV Oriana
That's really terrible news, our thoughts go out to all Darren's family and friends at this tragic time. R.I.P. Darren.
Oh how very sad. I knew Darren practically from day one of his career at sea, when he joined Canberra as a Cadet in 1991. I was CETO at the time and, on my first standby with Darren, had to persuade him that he really didn't need to call me "Sir" - Alan would do just fine! We always got along very well and I later sailed with him in Victoria in 1997/98.
My thoughts and sympathies are with his family at this very sad time.
