I was an engineer cadet with BI 400 years ago, and I remember a photograph in BI News which was of a grey-bearded old Mate with Empire-Builder shorts, tending a vegetable garden aft of the funnel on Dwarka. This garden apparently supplied a regular source of fresh veggies for all on board. This would have been in her Karachi-Gulf(?) back and forth days.
If anyone has a copy of that photo, or the full gamut of BI News to look through, I can only narrow it down to sometime in 1964.
It's for a liner site on FB, which has a lot of P&O, BI etc ships on it instead of all those popular ones painted black with a red funnel or four big ones...
