Thanks. And I thought that WM3 would be narrow in comparison with most. WM0 looks about right for a mountain bike.

Thank you Gordon for your help. The pictures of your largely-original tourer confirm that the door closes on to the rear panel so that the closed door stands proud of that panel. How odd. So, Jack, not a cut and shut (thank goodness) nor a dodgy weld job!
