Fitting a new rear crankshaft bearing

Hi all , I am now starting to re assemble my Ruby engine. Can anyone refresh my mind on how to refit the rear crankshaft bearing. Is it first fitted into the rear bearing housing (after first warming the housing to slightly expand ) then put onto the crankshaft and put into the crankcase again after heating the crankcase to expand it. Or is it put onto the crankshaft first then the bearing housing put on after that.
My understand of roller and ball bearings is that one race is a push fit and the other a press fit. However I don't know if this is true with sevens
