Rear shock absorber centre bushes.

I have just completed an overhaul of the rear shock absorbers on my mark 2 Ruby. When I removed the centre bushes from the chassis hanger plates to replace with new bushes I found that they were badly worn(which is to be expected) but also that they were made of wood.

I'm curious to know if this would have been normal, or were they perhaps a home made part installed by a previous owner.

I've never discovered wooden bushes in any previous Seven which I have owned.

John, My 1931 RM had wood bushes. I replaced them with some convenient plastic.

I understand they were originally made from Lignum Vitae - now illegal, hence the need to produce them in another material.
