Re: A bygone world where Austin reigned supreme !

Wonderful bit of life from my childhood. I did spot some Morris Minors, but even those had Austin engines!

Re: A bygone world where Austin reigned supreme !

Not only has Austin vanished- advertising today is quite different !
The past is another country.

I drove to my wedding in our J4 van in 1975. What a treat to see such fakery for the publicity department. Was that Sunbeam Talbot in the hospital driveway?

I think it was an Allard - presumably the visiting consultant!

It's astonishing to look at this in the light of modern Health and Safety paranoia.

No seat belts, hard hats, or hi-vis and as for the terrifying top-heavy artic attempting to murder hikers in Snowdonia.........

The kids in the minibus in particular would probably trigger a public enquiry nowadays!

By using a bit of common sense!

The problem with common sense is that it's a bit scarce...

About 3.36 the ambulance is driving into Bromsgrove down the A38 into the High Street. The Hospital featured is the "Woodlands" hospital in Northfield. Now called the Royal Orthapeadic Hospital. Both locations close to Longbridge. The road approaching the hospital is the A38 Bristol Road South. Still looks much the same today, the grass central reservation where the trams used to run.
