Trying to locate old family Austin 7

Hi everyone,

Apologies for posting and not being an official member but I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. I am trying to trace an Austin 7 that belonged to my mother. She restored it back in the 80's/90's. I have recently found out that it was sold two years ago by a family member. All the information I have is the amount it was sold for and that a classic car company from Yorkshire with an unusual name travelled down to Staffordshire to buy it.

I have photos of the car and its registration details. It's an ARQ Ruby Mk1, Green, Reg. BLC 570. It was last listed as part of the Pre-war Austin 7 Club but in 2000 before it was sold.

If anyone knows of this car (which would be a huge stroke of luck) or can give me any guidance on tracing it I would be very grateful.

Thank you all!

The Yorkshire dealer with an unusual name sounds like it may well have been Grundy Mack, now trading as Classic and Sports Car Centre - it might be worth trying them to see if they have anything in their old records:

Thank you Mike. That is a great start! I had consigned myself to call every classic dealer in Yorkshire! I'll make contact with them.

The other dealer in Yorkshire that springs to mind is the Vintage Petrol Pump company - I suppose that name could be considered strange!

According to my car check BLC 570 is a Ford Fiesta Vtec reg 1 /12/2009

Re: Trying to locate old family Austin 7

Thanks for replying Derek. I have an original photo of the car and have checked the reg and chassis number with the A7CA register so it is correct: http://a7ca.org/chassis-register/.

I have just searched on 'webuyanycar' and it throws up the same info that you have seen - a Fiesta! Very confusing! Maybe the DVLA re-assigned the reg?

Think this is going to be a challenge!

could have been sold on at some point and replaced with an age-related plate...why I can't fathom, as it's not particularly remarkable.

Sadly, the unspeakable practice of number plate robbing makes it much more difficult to trace a car.

All that history thrown away just to satisfy the vanity of someone who doesn't want anyone to know that their horrid modern is last year's model!

What about Nigel Snow , he,s from Yorkshire I think .
I have my own number Martin which was robbed from an E903A Ford that was on top of a pile in a scrap yard 45 years ago ,the car had no axles or engine ,that was in the days when you could buy the log book for £25 ,go to County Hall and transfer the number to your car !

I'll let you off on that one, Nigel!
