Re: What colour are the C.A.V. letters?

Very interesting website, as Stephen says. On what did you decide, Stephen? To save others looking : One sign has red lettering on yellow background, the other a white triangle on blue background with black CAV, and a border strip black with white lettering - quite a contrast. Cheers, Bill in Oz

Re: What colour are the C.A.V. letters?

Bill, apart from the colour combinations you have described, the one combination that I have seen in old British motoring magazines from the late 40's and from a 'net search showing a prewar ad was red with a black outline which tied it to Lucas in the same ad.

So at the moment I'm leaning towards red with a black outline as my choice.

Re: What colour are the C.A.V. letters?

Stephen - admittedly I'm only guessing, but there's a possibility that one or both of the two I mentioned were before 1926 when Lucas acquired CAV. The similarity to the Lucas scheme as you mentioned would possibly point to after that date? Cheers, Bill in Oz

Re: What colour are the C.A.V. letters?

Bill, the colour ad I am referring to had if memory serves me Lucas- C.A.V -Rotax in an arc all with red letters with a black outline. Quite possibly after the date you mention.

I'll have to see if I can find it again and post it.
