Re: Bromyard Festival of Speed

Thanks Roly.

The car wasnt so faf from you in Llangollen. Its currently in Ruthin. Will see if I can get it to run today.

Re: Bromyard Festival of Speed

I also will be trying to get my RN to run today! Yesterday the last 30 miles from Shrewsbury to Llangollen was on 3 cylinders. Heading over to Ian Sly to get the head off and take a look. As far as I'm aware the head was last removed in 1982, so it may be reluctant to come out and play.

Re: Bromyard Festival of Speed

Ha ha. I'll be back at work in Shrewsbury on Monday. Sounds like valve issues.

Re: Bromyard Festival of Speed

Valve issues - correct. No 3 cylinder exhaust valve wasn't opening fully due the tapper adjustment having come loose. Of course we discovered this after spending 3 hours dislodging the head. At least the head will come off easily now.

Re: Bromyard Festival of Speed

My problems were due to the spring in the fuel pipe having loosened the brass hex nipple on the inlet side of the fuel pump. That said there is **** in the fuel (rusty tank is my bet). But went for a short drive and only had to clean the jet once.

Can drive it home now.
