which one

Hi All, I am looking to get another 7
Which are the best buys, Specials or original cars ?
The car is just for road use only, For my son to drive about
Are the original cars a better in the long run
which i get in the end will be very condition "original" car or "special"
built to high spec

Safe driving

Re: which one

Hi John,
My advice would be get something that requires a little TLC --- that way you can involve your kids in the process and they will have a greater sense of ownership when the car makes it onto the road.

Re: which one

I own both a special and original Sevens.

For the use that you're thinking of, I'd go for an original car.

No pre-war car is going to be completely free of issues, but the trouble with specials is that in most cases you really don't know what you're buying.

Really good specials can be very expensive, while at the other end of the scale there are some truly horrific creations, often with highly questionable paperwork.

Location: Herefordshire, with an "E", not a "T"!

Re: which one

Maybe ask your son which he would like to drive?
I'd agree with Martin, some specials can be horrible in either engineering or appearance but the fun factor of driving a prewar open 2 seater takes some beating.
One of the VSCC triallist I know is building an ulster for his son,who is helping his dad bolt the car together.Said son can't be more than 10 years old !

Re: which one

Speaking as a yoof as much as specials are appealing in a great many ways my favourite 7 of the ones I have access too is undoubtedly our 1934 PD two seater. It's standard, but is a lot of fun. It's certainly the easiest to drive and I often use it for local errands and trips. Doubly good on a sunny day!

Re: which one

Iam for a APE opal , but as you know I have one for sale.
My other Opal is my best all rounder, you will have to do a lot of convincing to get me to think otherwise.

Re: which one

I would agree that the two seaters mentioned above are very good and practical cars - loads of boot space, nip along, warm with the roof up and easy to put the roof down - great cars.
