Cranked drag link

Having a small clearance issue on my special.

On full lock the mud guard hits the drag link as per the pic.

Was thinking of putting a crank in the draglink to bring it on line with my radius arms.

Has anyone tried this ?

Thanks

John

Re: Cranked drag link

Yes, my special has a crank in the drag link for the same reason. I welded a gusset around the outside of the bend. I'm sure engineering purists would decry this as a solution, but it's been in place on my car for over 30 years now.

Re: Cranked drag link

Yes, I have a cranked draglink on Grannie which has been OK for years, Oh S**t that's jinxed it! And my Alvis 12/50 TJ has a cranked draglink as standard.

Re: Cranked drag link

They quite often crank themselves......

Re: Cranked drag link

John,
Your special looks interesting. Any more pictures?

Re: Cranked drag link

Thanks for the replies.

Will give it a bit of cranking and see what happens.

More pics.

Re: Cranked drag link

It's a Suzuki G10A engine, fitted to swifts.

Normally transvers but has the same bell housing as a G10 fitted to an SJ413 so used the gearbox with out the transfer box.
