Standard Ruby Saloon in the sun...

My friend Peter who built the Cup Model body for me is running in the engine I built for his 1938 Standard Ruby just now.

He sent me some pictures today along with the following:

We were away camping for the weekend in Cannich covering about 110 miles altogether. The photo of the lily pond is taken near Tomich, Glen Affric – 2 miles from the village on an unmade mountain road. Strathfarrar was a detour we made on the way home; it is a private estate only open on certain days. Access is by ticket only and allows you to drive 12 miles of estate roads including crossing a dam. We passed only a handful of other cars in the 24 mile trip.]

We are experiencing some super weather up here in Scotland and I thought some of you would enjoy the photos...

The years seem to have stood still, don't they?

Actually, this beautiful area has seen some big changes in the name of "progress".

(Do you think you could do the link for me please, Ruairidh ?)

Thanks Peter and R. for reminding me of a visit there with the Bristol Austin 7 Club back in the Seventies - a great spot, thoroughly enjoyed. Cheers, Bill in Oz

Re: Standard Ruby Saloon in the sun...

Yesterday evening, driving through the lanes on my way home from Stony Stratford to Twyford in glorious sunshine a beautiful standard black Mk1 Ruby came the other way, I think the registration number was BKO 4...it sounded absolutely marvellous and that chap driving certainly had a smile on his face!

Oh, brilliant pix by the way Ruiaridh!

Looks an amazing place to drive through.
