Ruby on ebay .... 1932, 35, or 36?

Ruby on ebay .... 1932, 35, or 36?

Looking at this on ebay it looks like a mk2 Ruby, which I thought came out in 1936. If we ignore the heading of 1932 and go by the registration number it is from May 1935.

Is this a case of just running the wrong car on these registration plates?

the description says it's a '35 car so that fit's with your comment on the reg' year.

DVLA website says it was first registered on 2nd May 1935, perhaps it was a prototype, the auction description shows it with a load of factory extras that would not be out of place as extras on a modern car!

It seems very likely that at some stage some swapping around has been indulged in. Apart from the rego, either the chassis or the chassis plates have been changed, or another body fitted on all of the above. The body is definitely that of a Mark 2 Ruby, and Austins didn't market "prototypes". As they were flat out producing Sevens in their busiest year 1935, I'd suggest it was a little early for them to be manufacturing (and selling?) a new style about 18 months before. A measure of the dashboard height will tell if the inner panels are from the earlier model or not. Cheers, Bill in Oz

Agreed - 36 Ruby body on earlier wheels on the back with a 35 (or before) speedo and oil pressure gauge. Might be a mish-mash of bits, but it's got character, just needs some love. :) No engine pics?
