The link takes you to 'Page Not Found', Hedd.

for those who cant be bothered to read it all...

Option 3
Exempt 40 year old ‘VHIs’ from annual testing and introduce a ‘VHI’ certification process to ensure a vehicle has not been substantially changed (could be based on self-certification or independent inspection or a combination). This is the preferred option.

Re: Roadworthyness testing consultation Sept 2016

Sadly. The edit function has gone with the captcha.

Just take the brackets and URL off the end.

The consultation suggests a 2018 implementation. The cut off date for the substantial change is 1988.

If things go with the preferred option, we shall all have to optain certs to prove historical interest and no substantial change since 1988. Easy if you have a box saloon. A little more problematic for those who run pretend ulsters and specials given the present dificulties with the DVLA, given that their system is proposed.

Self certification was mentioned, so we might not have to obtain certificates.

All open to interpretation though.

Just out of interest - does this 'edit' work? Seems it does.

Re: Roadworthyness testing consultation Sept 2016

Just had a quick read through but I think that this is probably something worth reading and responding to in detail. Some points of interest.

1. There is a discussion re modified cars but not to much detail on if your car falls in to this category so may impact on specials.
2. One option is for a full MOT on all old cars, not sure how this would work with omissions.
3. One option is for a basic road worthy test e.g. Identification, brakes, light and steering sound ok but £45 may be a bit high and do the stations have understanding of our cars
4. Possible option for Historic cars to have a limited mileage.

The document includes a list of questions to respond to.

Not sure yet of my thoughts on all the questions but we do have the opportunity to have our say and some of the option will impact on the use of Historic cars.

As it looks from the document that they are leaning towards using the existing "8 point rule" as to what would constitute a VHI (Vehicle of Historic Interest -their jargon) A7 Specials & replicas, even those with Reliant etc. motors fitted should be OK. Spaceframed "Rubies" with modern suspension and the like might have a problem though.

Let's ensure that we don't get sailed down the wrong route by unrepresentative "research" from the FBHVC - as with the MOT exemption.

Don't forget to do the online survey that comes with this.

I've filled in the questionaire and sent it in but I'm not sure what some of the answers should be, especially regarding HGV and PSV.

Re: Roadworthiness testing consultation Sept 2016

It is well worth reading through and responding. The last time changes to licensing were considered, the response from three-wheeler owners made a considerable difference as the DVLA had claimed incorrectly that they had referred to owners clubs.
