3 1/4" Smiths Nemag or British Jaeger Speedometer

I have obtained a suitable rev counter for my special, missing the bezel and needle.

Annoyingly two of these speedos slipped through my fingers on eBay last week... the bezel and needle are identical to those missing from mine. Can anyone tell me what they were fitted to and when, in order to assist my search for one! (or if you have a dead one on the shelf that I could rob the front from... please get in touch.)

Thanks in anticipation

Looks very similar to the speedo I had on my Riley 9 (1934 Kestrel).

You might find these people useful. I sold them a chronometric speedo a while back. I guess they may have spares from dismantled instruments that might sort you out?

Another avenue may be Instrument Repair Service in West Bridgford, Nottingham. They've been around a long time and may have old stock.

Yes, looks like a Riley 9 speedometer but they are 3 inch ( have you got the size right, Nick?)
Seems a pity to butcher perfectly good original speedos for a Special rev counter- have a word with Brooklands Enginecraft ( easy to google)

David.

Re: 3 1/4" Smiths Nemag or British Jaeger Speedometer

Thanks David. I completely agree. Both were advertised for parts. Also hence me asking if anyone has a dead one!

The size measures about 2 7/8" inside the bezel, 3 3/8" outside...

Being an Austin 7 enthusiast (parsimonious in the extreme) I was seeking to avoid main dealer prices!

Regards
Nick

Ah. Must confess I have gone electronic repro on my 7 specials. Got fed up with cable originals giving spurious readings.
Good luck.
