Good morning all. Many thanks to the respondents to this question.
I believe Bill has identified the anomaly - I have the remains of a bulkhead which has a curved strip (albeit rotten and worm eaten) between the ali and the lower part of the screen.
Now to get it all assembled.

Stuart - I realise now I didn't explain myself very well. If your screen is too high by 2" when it sits on the timber strip because it's been modified, the other answer is to leave the timber out and use the frame as is. Again, Good Luck & Cheers, Bill
