CF1 / CFR cutouts

Im busy sorting through boxes of spares. Hunting out bits for a 1930 AE tourer.

I understand that the correct cut out is a Lucas CF1?.

Ive found a CFR. Am I right in thinking this is slightly later. Say for a 1932 car.

What is the difference? Are they visually different?.

Its hard to tell comparing with illustrations in the parts list!

Many thanks in advance

Re: CF1 / CFR cutouts

Hedd, drawing of a CF1 in here, page 34. only 2 wires connected, one fuse taking the original form of a very thin ali strip.

In here is a drawing of a CFR, page 47. circa 1934, 2 glass cartridge fuses, 4 wires connected, field resistor in the form of a spiral of resistance wire contained within the base. http://www.a7ca.org/downloads/handbooks/HB_1934_1095A.pdf

Re: CF1 / CFR cutouts

Ok. So the CF1 is the same width over both enclosures. The CFR is narrowed over one enclosure.

The bummer is there are no CF1's in stock in the shed :-(
