I had that problem and ended up bevelling the front lip seems OK

This is not uncommon problem with Phoenix cranks even in coil crankcases, as already mentioned bevel the lip and all should be well. I would strongly recommend crack testing the flange, even if not visible to the eye many are damaged, if they come adrift the fragments of aluminum will make short work of your big ends

Many thanks to you all. It's good to know that I'm not doing something stupid. I will machine the front lip and continue with the build.
