Ruby ARQ Saloon Door Panels

Hi all, I am currently rebuilding my July '36 registered early type Ruby saloon.
Ruby was purchased with very little of the original woodwork in place and none of the internal trim as she had, at some stage, been on fire.
However I have managed by various means to ascertain details of the original woodwork for the whole car and this has now all been replaced in new ash, including all new framework on the doors.
However one area I have not been able to decipher to date is the door panels themselves.
These I believe to be 1/8" thick, possibly marine ply or similar.
Pictures from magazines and from the web that I have appear to show a slot cut through the door panel, the same shape as the door pocket and exactly where the door pocket fits but details of how the trim and door pocket fit into the wooden panel I have not managed to decipher.
So if anybody out there who has been there and done it and can advise on the details of the door panels and how the door pockets fit together I would be much obliged, and a step nearer completion.

Best regards
Denis Sweeney

Re: Ruby ARQ Saloon Door Panels

I believe Martin Prior does the door panels ,he certainly does Ruby woodwork.

Re: Ruby ARQ Saloon Door Panels

Hi Denis

I have an original door panel for a Mk I Ruby, this plyboard (3-layer from memory) and I used this as a template for the ones in my car & also on my Uncle's, I also have the original leather & map pocket.

It is all quite straightforward once you see how it is cut (and reinforced) for the map pocket.

You are welcome to have this as I have finished with it and I am not overly far from you, on the Sussex coast, probably a 2 hour drive each way, and you can see the finished article as there are a few little points to note to get it exactly right!

Pm me if you are interested!

Good luck.
