Numbers!

My car is a 1929 RK saloon registered December: Chassis 101380 Body B4148 1929. The engine no is 101897.

The cylinder head has a casting number: 1A38 S7, the carburettor says 22FZ 046672, the 3 speed ball change gearbox has the same number on the top as on the case: 2185J. I haven't found any numbers on the transmission tunnel yet!

Do these sound like original numbers to the assembled multitude?!

Re: Numbers!

David,
Chassis, Engine and Body number appear spot on for a late '29 car.
I would think the engine is the original.

Don't worry about the other numbers. They are not important to the car's provenance.

It would be good to find a car number though.

Re: Numbers!

I think that B4148 is actually the car no. On my RK the body number is stamped on the door hinges. It should also be on the top of transmission tunnel just behind the removable section over the handbrake.
