Re: buying a austin ruby van

I think you'll find a clue in the statement that Austin never made a Big 7 van.

Re: buying a austin ruby van

Judging from the photos,it's not a bad-looking vehicle, but I think that this is very unlikely to be an original van.

Apart from the spare wheel, I doubt that the fuel filler pipe would have run through the loadspace as this one does.

I don't like the look of the kink in the roofline above the B-post, which looks like a rather poor attempt at grafting a new van back onto a saloon front.

The instrument panel is from the highest-spec Big Seven saloon and the door cards are of saloon type - the contemporary Ruby van had a much plainer type.

Finally, I'd say that it's vastly overpriced.

Location: Herefordshire, with an "E" not a "T".

Re: buying a austin ruby van

Robin Taylor in derby is the big 7 expert,I'm sure he could tell you if a van version was produced
11 1/2K is a lot of money for a big 7.

Re: buying a austin ruby van

Agree with all the above comments. The rear door hinges look to be far too modern, are they off a Mini Countryman?
I would rather have a really good Big 7 saloon for about half the price!

Re: buying a austin ruby van

Well looks like a no go then.... It's a shame as looks good.. I'll keep me ears to the ground for another one
Again many thanks for your help..
Would consider a seven car also
