Hello Simon
It is correct that the rocker valve changes direction before the paddle reaches the end of its stroke. If you try to adjust the mechanism to give a longer stroke you stand the chance of reaching the end of travel before the valve snaps across. The extra movement when switched off helps hide the wiper from view.
