Removing 1st motion shaft

With a 3/4 syncromesh gearbox, is it possible to remove the 1st motion shaft and bearing from the front of the gearbox without removing the selectors and layshaft first?

I need to change the bearing as it's graunchy. I have got the front cover off, with its bearing (which was even worse), so have access.
