New Clutch Linings

Hello all,
replacing the original clutch linings on the 1929 engine rebuild and noted that
the new clutch lings have radial grooves on the friction side as opposed to the original which was flat with no grooves.

Do the new linings offer any improvements in operation over the originals that any of you can detect?

Just curious.

As a general rule any surface with ridges has more grip than a smooth surface.

Re: New Clutch Linings

As a point of interest the linings appear to be the original factory items.

These are riveted to the flywheel and pressure plate with aluminum rivets and the ends formed into perfect domes on the pressure plate and just peened over on the back of the flywheel.

Except for the one lining on the flywheel that is cracked from one of the retaining rivets, the linings look to be totally serviceable.
