Are my front hubs different?

I believed and have read recently that all front hubs were the same..however when i came to offer up my new girling brake drums today they do not fit up to the hub back plate as my hubs have a 1mm high 4mm deep lip.. as i do not have the original drums am i missing something basic?

Re: Are my front hubs different?

This sounds like a Big Seven outer hub.

Re: Are my front hubs different?

As R suggests.

Big 7 have the small lip.

As do the late 1938 austin 7 for full girling brakes.

The drums can be simply filed with a half rond file to fit your hubs.

The three countersink holes come to the same centres to fix the drum.

Up to 1928 the brake drums were not attached to the hubs so didn't have the countersunk holes. The outer hub flange holes were countersunk and the small 1/4 BSF screws (BL19) were shorter.
