Re: Starter motor

Tony,
The hassle Bugatti's have caused they aught to be ten times that. Like your price structuring though.

Re: Starter motor

Having stood for a while it could just be the bendix stuck. Remove starter and see. If it has; lubricate with powdered graphite available from ironmongers for lubricating locks, do not oil

Re: Starter motor

Hi Derek,

That would be £850 for a spring, wow.

But I can see there problem of supply and demand. How many want them, and they have to have 500 made. They probably went for the flat end steel and took the risk of stress fractures.

When I had my 500 made. I ordered the same shape round ended stee. And had to order a given wheight from Germany. The only place that stocks it.

I could have had them made in flat ended steel, and only have to have 100 made. But didn't want the worry of cracking when the steel is shaped.

I don't sell many of them, the austin 12 club runs the stock down well.

The Bad news for 7 owners is, it's not worth me making a next batch. As Bugatti, supply and demand.

I'll save 5 for my own cars I think.

Re: Starter motor

If I remember I was recently told that the bacon slicer spring was similar to that used in the T Model Ford- but I could be wrong !

It's the same as used on Straight-8 Daimlers.
