Yes John M felt seal part no BD33 should be fitted to your Ruby fan spindle, in my experience this felt seal as supplied is, and has been for years too thick so will need cutting to around a 1/4". Cheers Ian M

John the only down side is removing the spindle, usually means having to take the radiator out, or the dynamo housing!

John choose the radiator, less chance of increasing the scope of the job!
Oh, and don't forget the cotter holding the spindle does not come out like a cycle cotter, just needs a tap to loosen it then rotate the spindle a few times has you draw it out. Ian M

Don't forget to soak the new seal in oil over-night, it reduces the wear dramatically,

Thanks for the tip. My son will be doing it under my supervision as my eyesight is not good. I favour taking off the Dynamo housing rather than the radiator and cowing although it means re timing the engine. Not to difficult if I get no.1 piston at just before TDC and the rota arm pointing at no.1 plug lead terminal in the dizzy cap. I
