Re: clutch pressure plate

Personally I would not do such a thing. It is not necessary.
Safer not to.

Re: clutch pressure plate

Well the plate has quite a few ridges on the face, I think maybe its been down to the rivets at some time.As I have only just aquired the car and am new to Austin 7's I am not sure what is acceptable on the pressure plate.

Hi Ken,
link doesn't seem to go anywhere? - you could try attaching photo to the message following Ruairidh's instructions towards top of index list.

Your picture is perfectly visible to me Ken. Stephen's problem would appear to be at his end?

Re: clutch pressure plate

Hi yes the flywheel face is discolored as you can see from the photo, but not scored and I think is servicable

Re: clutch pressure plate

Hi Ken, That looks fine, but I would Skim the pressure plate.
there are a couple of things to watch
If being done in a lath you will probably need to take at least a 10th cut first up as the surface will have hardened and you need to get underthat in one go it will only be necessary to take out about 85% of the marks.
This will not have any detrimental Effect on the Plate,
And as you are rebuilding the Engine that is the way to go

good Luck Colin

Re: clutch pressure plate

Hi Colin .I am thinking the same, I have a boxford lathe with a 9"swing so it will fit. Thanks for your advice.

Re: clutch pressure plate

I agree with Colin, facing it off seems the correct solution.
