Pigsty high torque inlet vs cast aluminium inlet

Hi all. I have found myself with a choice of inlets to fit to my mildly tuned engine. What is the advantage of the pigsty high torque steel inlet over the cast aluminium inlet with the 30deg adapter?

Re: Pigsty high torque inlet vs cast aluminium inlet

Hi john,

Thought I'd see if anyone came up with an answer, but not yet.

You may find there is no bhp difference.

It's probably more that the castings are not always available. So they fabricate there own in steel tube.

This usually comes at a labour cost though, which has to be handed onto the customer.

I've not looked to see what they charge? Do you know the price.

Tony.

Re: Pigsty high torque inlet vs cast aluminium inlet

John,
On a mildly tuned engine probably very little difference. In fact I think some racers still adapt the cast aluminium inlet manifolds. With a full race engine and 11/2 SU the pigsty style manifold works well for us but we haven't tried anything different. If you have a cast aluminium one, I'd give it a go.

They are listed at 150 plus vat on their website. I got this one in a job lot with an unfinished project. I am selling bits I don't need to put the money towards a crank and rods and other bits. Might keep it for another while.
I thought there may have been an advantage using it.
