If the thread is not too damaged .5 inch UNF 20 tpi adequately corrects over short lengths. It is the size used for postawr carbs so unions from those and accessory parts can be used

If you helicoil then a permanent fix and no odd sized bolts, I hate having to break out AF or metric spanners when working on a seven because threads have been altered. So frustrating when you know what size it should be and you keep having to muck about because of a past owner when there is no need.
