Re: 80mph speedo

Peter,

I've emailed you a picture of the 80 mph Smiths PA X.40695 speedometer on my 1932 RN Saloon. I would have uploaded it to the forum through PB, but they have now put an end to gratuitous usage of third party hosting.

Some years ago when I asked Dave RN Mann about this model, he replied: 'I've seen RNs with this speedo, including one of ours which has the same numbers as yours. I've not worked out what 40695 means or why it starts at one o’clock’.

If anyone else would like to receive the photo, please let me know.

Re: 80mph speedo

The ARIEL 500cc red hunter has this configuration. But 0 to 100
The ARIEL square four has same configuration. But either 0 to 100 or 0 to 120

I think if you look up the 350cc range it will have same configuration 0 to 80

There bikes used these speedos pre-war. And carried them on post war.

Or it's on a simular bike.

Tony.
