RP Chassis number

Can anyone tell me if I should be looking anywhere other than the NS chassis rail near the rear engine mounting for this number? I can't find it , although I have the scuttle plate, but would like to confirm the details tally. Any info gratefully recieved.

Ashley, it should be where you say it is, you may have some paint/oil/grot filling the numbers. As stated on another topic on this Forum go to the A7CA web site, click on Chassis Register, in the intro text you'll see highlighted 'Quote this number', click on this and the 0.5 Mb Adobe pdf file will download. Or go to http://www.a7ca.org/Registers/Quote%20this%20number.pdf to see the same thing. Fig 11 is what you are looking for.

IF it is not there it's because it's probably been ground off by someone...... How long have you had the car?
