Stephen,

Type 'cleaning auto hood mohair' into Google and you'll get loads of advice...... all right, mostly from AutoGlym, but it's a start.

Re: Cleaning the Hood

Mohair is not the same as duck cloth (also known as double duck). Mohair is good quality and expensive. Double duck shrinks, fades and frays.

Many thanks to Naomi and David

Re: Cleaning the Hood

I have had a mohair tonneau cover on the Morgan for about 15 years now and the fabric has proved to be pretty well indestructible. I usually wash it on the car with a brush on the end of a hose pipe, but if it gets grubby I have washed it with a pressure washer using a wide fan jet. No cleaning products have ever been necessary. Yes it is still waterproof! The only problem has been the zip wearing its teeth away but I have now discovered the aerosol spray used to reproof wax jackets. With the zip lubricated with this stuff it looks like the zip will outlast me.
