Fuel pump

Hi its me again back to the fuel pump .
I have had the engine running since the rebuild and the only oil leak was from the gasket joining the fuel pump so I cleaned this and re sealed and re fitted the pump however the engine will not turn a full revolution without locking up remave the fuel pump and all is O/K no matter how carefull the re fitting alwas has the same result any ideas ! is the arm bent ? how do I get the correct alighnement ?

Re: Fuel pump

Hi Mike

Have a look at the brilliant article on the Cornwall club site under "technical". It describes in detail how to refit the pump. You have probably got the arm in the wrong place!

Re: Fuel pump

Hi MIke,

One other place the oil can come from, and it sometimes appears as if the gasket is still leaking, is from the pivot pin of the pump arm. If you look at the side of the pump right down near the bottom you will see a steel pin which goes right through the pump body cating. After many years of use the pin wears away the casting and oil can leak out from here. Either you need the body of the pump bushed to take up the wear or perhaps another pump may be the answer.
