Oil pump

Quick question, when I distmanted the oil pump, there was no gasket on the bottom cover. I am now putting it back together. Should it have one?

Many thanks in advance

Re: Re: Oil pump

very good, thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Oil pump

may I add a small tip .. Lap this end plate to remove the rotary scoring.

Re: Re: Oil pump

Why not do the job properly while its in bits.
If you bore the pump body out and add to its eccentricity you can increase the flow rate by a substantial amount.
If you then reduce the unduly large diameter of the feed hole in the front camshaft bush, you can divert much more oil to your "spit & hope" jets, not forgeting to check them for correct aim while you are at it.

Re: Re: Re: Oil pump

If you are going to do that its worth increasing the size of the oil jets at the same time for even more flow while keeping the oil pressure standard so it looks right on the dash.

out of interest how difficult is it to remove the jets, its something ive never had the need to do.
